Motherland Essentials / Founder
Andrea Davis is the founder of Motherland Essentials, a creative self-care studio in Summerville, South Carolina, known for its hands-on workshops and thoughtfully crafted bath and body goods. As a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and community builder, Andrea’s work sits at the intersection of wellness, culture, and collective care. Through Motherland Essentials, she has created a welcoming space where creativity becomes a tool for healing, connection, and empowerment.
Andrea has facilitated hundreds of accessible, intergenerational workshops—ranging from soapmaking and candle pouring to incense rolling and herbal self-care—prioritizing affordability, cultural relevance, and inclusive design. Her work has been featured at community events, juried art shows, healing retreats, and educational spaces, and she is regularly invited to speak on creative entrepreneurship, culturally rooted wellness, and values-driven business models.
Giving back is embedded into the structure of Andrea’s business. She has organized and hosted community care events that provide free resources, partnered with local nonprofits and mutual aid organizations, and implemented “pay-what-you-can” offerings that directly support LGBTQ+ organizations and other community initiatives. Andrea has also collaborated with advocacy groups, youth leadership programs, and artists of color to create safer, affirming spaces—particularly for Black, queer, and marginalized communities.
Through Motherland Essentials, Andrea demonstrates that profitability and purpose are not mutually exclusive. Her work exemplifies how small businesses can operate as vehicles for social impact—redistributing resources, amplifying community voices, and redefining success through care, creativity, and collective well-being.
