Pedro De Armas El Informador– Editor in Chief / Owner
Pedro De Armas is originally from Caracas, Venezuela, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Communications. In 2003 he moved to Charlotte, NC where he met his wife, Lisa. His first two jobs in Charlotte were an afternoon radio personality in a local Spanish radio station and a co-host of the first bilingual television show in Charlotte called “Caminando en las Carolinas” (Walking in the Carolinas), broadcasted on the local ABC affiliate WSOC. He later worked in a Spanish language Charlotte-based newspaper before moving to Charleston and launching his own publication, El Informador Newspaper, the largest Spanish language newspaper in the coast of South Carolina that has served the Latino community since 2008. As a business owner, Editor in Chief and Publisher, Pedro has been helping the Latino community along coastal South Carolina by supporting and participating in many local non-profit organizations, like the Dee Norton Lowcountry Children’s Center, The American Heart Association, The Hispanic Business Association, and recently The Charleston Exchange Club. Pedro currently serves as the Vice President of Membership for the National Association of Hispanic Publications. He was the President of Charleston’s Hispanic Business Association (HBA), which directly impacts the Latino community in the Palmetto state, and his publication El Informador Newspaper is a member of the Inter American Press Association, where Pedro can express his commitment to defend the Freedom of the Press and Journalist Ethics.
