Andrea Davis Motherland Essentials – Founder
In 2014, Andrea Davis lost her son, Elijah, in utero. After only being allowed 3 days of bereavement, she developed severe depression and decided to quit her job in finance to focus on her mental health and self-care. During her time of healing, she discovered soapmaking on YouTube. After taking the time to develop her own bath and body formulations, she started Motherland Essentials in 2015. The company has since reached milestones, such as opening the first Black woman owned soap manufacturing warehouse in Summerville, SC in 2020. She has also successfully crowdfunded over $15,000 to secure additional funds to support her business. When she’s not creating colorful soaps, she’s enjoying life raising her two sons, Russell and Khari, with her husband, Joshua.
