Bruce Nelson served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Office Depot, Inc. from July 2000 to October 2004. Previously he served both as President of Office Depot International and as President and Chief Operating Officer of subsidiary, Viking Office Products Inc. From 1990 to 1995 Bruce served as President and Chief Executive Officer of BT Office Products USA. Prior to that, he worked for over 22 years at Boise Cascade Office Products in a number of executive positions.
Since his retirement from Office Depot in 2004, Bruce has served on of a number of non-profit Boards. He is currently the Chairman of the College of Business Leadership Board at Idaho State University, his Alma matter.
Bruce is now actively engaged in Reverence Farms and Reverence Farms Café. Reverence Farm is a first generation family owned and operated 300-acre diversified livestock farm in Saxapahaw, NC, where chickens, laying hens, dairy and beef cows, goats, pigs, turkeys and sheep are all rotated on pasture. In 2016, the family opened Reverence Farms Cafe where they serve the food they raise alongside their neighbor’s harvests who share their values.
Bruce graduated from Idaho State University in1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in economics and accounting. In 1985 he attended Stanford University’s Executive Program.
Bruce has been married to his wife LaVaun for over 50 years, and together with their children Suzanne and Connor, and Suzanne’s husband, Hubert Karreman, operate the farm and cafe.
