Amy Barrett is the Executive Director of the Urban Land Institute in South Carolina, a non-profit organization the provides leadership in the responsible use of land. Before joining ULI, Amy served as the Director of Business & Neighborhood Services for the City Charleston where she headed various economic development initiatives under former Mayor Joe Riley & current Mayor John Tecklenburg.
Prior to her work at the City, Amy directed research for a variety of high profile real estate development projects throughout the southeast, both as an independent consultant & as Vice President at Permar Inc., a real estate advisory services firm located in Charleston, South Carolina.
Amy has master’s degree in Urban & Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia & an undergraduate degree in Political Science & Urban Studies from Furman University. She has held positions on various boards & nonprofits & is a former Peace Corps volunteer.
Amy is a proud PANK—Professional Aunt No Kids—with five bold young nieces and one wild nephew. Amy loves to travel, do crossword puzzles and & hang out with her 4-year old Goldendoodle, Archie.
